Struggle and Dreams Little Girl Poor in Inland menage a quatre China to Reach Education. That subtitle is listed on the cover of this book. And so also the one contents. Ma Yan, is the eldest daughter of a couple of poor families in remote areas of China. Because of the remoteness, it was said that no man may come there by accident. In addition, the region experienced a prolonged drought due to previous government policy, so although subsistence farmers, the villagers could hardly produce any food for sale.
Ma Yan and her brother had to walk to school as far as twenty menage a quatre miles. Boarding schools provide only a bowl of rice a day of rice brought as children's menage a quatre school fees. Ma Yan came home on Friday afternoon, and returned to school on Sunday. As the provision of five days in the dorm, his mother provided him with only one yuan of money that can only be used to buy vegetables perfunctory, and five pieces of steamed bread for dinner during the week. In the morning, he just jammed his stomach with hot tea are provided in the hostel kitchen.
One time, Ma Yan was eager to buy a pen. It costs two yuan. He was well aware that his parents could not have had more than one yuan per week to be given to him, while his mother was to eat still have to count carefully. He also hold the stomach and tongue to not buy vegetables until her stomach because only given rice fresh every day. With such a struggle, she could only have a pen for two yuan.
At one point, the family expenditure should be suppressed such that there is to be sacrificed. There is no other way but to reduce the cost of school. As a woman, Ma Yan had been the first victim. However, the determination was so strong that little girl, she pleaded with her mother to find a way in order to stay in school. Her mother did not have the heart to see Ma Yan, a smart little girl and earnest in learning, should suffer the same fate seems. Secretly, both mother and child has the same belief that the only education they can get out of the poverty menage a quatre and suffering that they had been getting comfortable.
This story is a real picture menage a quatre of the poor, which are not many. Whether it's in China, the places described in this book, or even our own country. The spirit of the little girl to continue to learn for the future, and the tireless struggle of a mother for the sake of their children, it is exemplary. This story is actually lifted from a true story, but it looks like the author himself tells his version. So it may still be in the fiction category.
The author has expertise in setting up their own sentences so easy to read but still beautiful. However, there are still some repetition that seems less necessary. The most striking is the equation of a letter in a bottle analogy used by Ma Yan's mother, who incidentally are not educated, with Pierre Haski, a journalist who tells the story of Ma Yan in the world. Impression as if they have the same angle, but the world in which they live is much different.
oh, so yes, this is the first I read the book anyway * MBA Sanie shut down * tp yeah, right, berbunga2
Pierre Haski original manuscript compiled from Mayan diary, more a journalist reports that seem 'heavy' read, especially for children. Then it must be processed in such a manner with some metaphors in order to make it easier to understand and a high level of readability for young readers. Thank ya have to appreciate this book.
